Historical Data Recording

Practicon has developed standard off the shelf historical process data capture software packages to afford the customer with the ability to record process activities of valve positions, mixer speeds, temperatures and line pressures etc. These solutions can be run in the background over Ethernet utilising industry standard OPC (Open Productivity & Connectivity) communication software to interface with existing PLC’s control systems or via Ethernet to serial port servers to communicate with discrete devices i.e. standalone temperature controllers or inverter drives.

Monitoring Plant Devices

The data captured from the process plant and discrete devices can be configured to record either on a continuous basis or configured to record groups of devices from a selectable trigger. The trigger is normally based on the event of an action taking place on the plant or machine i.e. valve opening or sensor input but other actions can be accommodated, for example a high level process variable or a pressure device.

Historical Data

The historical data captured can be displayed and searched using a windows application provided by Practicon. This software will allow the data to be filtered by search criteria using time and date and will also display the searched data on a trend graph for local analysis. The historical data can be printed out to a local or networked printer and also exported to an Excel file format to be evaluated by other graphical data representation software tools. This Practicon Data Capture Software solution is ideal for CIP (Clean In Place) systems and downstream plant processes for monitoring heating, cooking and cooling operation for example to validate the actions of the process plant. This historical data proves invaluable when used to help trace plant and process issues, also it can form part of the PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) schemes adopted by customers maintenance and engineering departments to detect early signs of wear or deterioration.

Event & Alarm Email & Text Messaging

Options are also available to automatically email or send SMS messages to a selected group in the event of certain parameters being monitored above or below set limits to inform of critical events.
